Thursday, April 15, from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. CET, will be held the online round table “Port cities of Campania region: towards a better integration”. The webinar is organised by RETE, the Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development (CNR IRISS) and the Municipality of Livorno, in collaboration with the Port System Authority of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea, the National Association of Italian Engineers and Architects (aniai Campania), the International Propeller Club Port of Naples and Campania Region.
The initiative, promoted among scientific and professional associations, aims to create a space for reflection for the maritime cluster, the governance of the port system and the regional government to discuss the forthcoming challenges of the port-territory system and the opportunities offered by the unitary governance of the ports of Naples, Salerno and Castellammare di Stabia, in application of the 2016 reform.
The main objective, for the recently renewed Board of Directors of the ports of Campania region, must be the development of an integrated maritime-territorial logistics as a driver for regional development, in a perspective of sustainability and resilience, taking advantage of the opportunities stemming from the recovery fund. In this context, the challenge is to bring together the different visions, as well as to collaborate in the implementation of shared strategies that must guide the action of all actors, both public and private. By joining the forces and creating synergies, it will be possible to achieve a resilient and sustainable development of the region, which, starting from the sea, will support the renewal of the cities and the territory.
Massimo Clemente (Director of the CNR IRISS and Scientific Director of RETE) and Barbara Bonciani(Councillor for Port and Port-City Integration of the Municipality of Livorno and member of the RETE Scientific Committee) will facilitate the discussion. Among the key issues of the meeting: the reinforcement of the complementarity between the ports of Naples and Salerno and the enhancement of the port of Castellammare; the integration between ports and cities as a tool for urban regeneration and economic and social development; the 2050 vision of the port cities of Campania.
Invted speakers: Umberto Masucci, President of Propeller Club International, Port of Naples; Alessandro Castagnaro, President of Aniai Campania (National Association of Italian Engineers and Architects); Bruno Discepolo, Councillor for Territorial Government and City Planning of the Campania Region; Andrea Annunziata, President of the Authority of the Port System Authority of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea; Fulvio Bonavitacola, Vice President and Councillor for the Environment of the Campania Region.
The initiative, developed as part of the activities of the “Advanced Node” of Naples, is part of a cycle of webinars organised by RETE in Italy on the themes of logistics, ports and port-city integration in Italy.
The round table will be streamed on RETE Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/retedigital) from 16.00 to 17.30 CET.
