On Tuesday 11 May 2021, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm CET, the meeting “Strategies of the Port of Huelva to open up to the city” will take place. The initiative is promoted by RETE and the Port Authority of Huelva, which has recently joined the Association.

The aim of the event is to explore the relations between ports and cities, focusing on the specific case of the Port of Huelva, which has developed a clear strategy to achieve the integration and rapprochement with the city. Specific cases, such as the Valencian one, will also be dealt with by the Deputy Director General of the President of the Port of Valencia, as well as a review of the history of relations between ports and cities globally.

The meeting will be opened by Pilar Miranda, President of the Port of Huelva, and Teófila Martínez, President of RETE. This will be followed by the intervention of Manuel Guerra, Deputy Director General of the President of the PAV and Member of RETE Board of Director and Scientific Committee, who will speak on the port-city relationship, illustrating the case of Valencia.

The second part of the day will include the intervention of the Director of the Port of Huelva, Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio, who will discuss the integration of the port façade of Huelva in the city.
