Friday, March 19, from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. (CET) will be held the online roundtable entitled “Livorno: the ecosystem port-city-territory-community. Logistics, job and portuality: an innovative vision for the future”, organized by RETE in collaboration with the Municipality of Livorno and the Institute for Research on Innovation and Services for Development of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR IRISS).

The initiative, developed as part of the activities of the “Advanced Node” of Livorno, is part of a cycle of webinars organised by RETE in Italy on the themes of logistics, ports and port-city integration in Italy. The meeting will be an opportunity to address key issue and opportunities for the development of the territory of Livorno, linked in particular to the new port and retroport infrastructure investments.

The investments that characterise the current development of the port and the city of Livorno, with the planned expansion of port (Europa Dock) and retroport and the development of the rail plan, will require a logistics 5.0, more and more able to respond efficiently to the future scenarios that will open up in terms of automation, connectivity, sustainability, energy regeneration and human capital.

All these issues need to be addressed, right from the start, with a great critical sense and a shared city-port vision. It is in this perspective that the Round Table will take place, aimed at a constructive discussion between institutions and the maritime cluster on the themes of advanced logistics supporting the development of ports and their related industries.

The Round Table will be chaired by Barbara Bonciani, Councillor for the Port and Port-City Integration of the Municipality of Livorno, Member of the Scientific Committee and of the Governing Board of RETE.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of the Italian scientific, professional and associations sector: Ivano Russo, General Manager of Confetra; Piero Neri, President of Confindustria Livorno and Massa Carrara; Paolo Dario, Vice-Chancellor of the Third Mission of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa; Gloria Dari, President of Spedimar Livorno, recently appointed President of Confetra Toscana.

Massimo Clemente, Director of the Scientific Committee of RETE and CNR IRISS, will moderate the debate. The thematic focuses of the meeting will include: the national scenarios of logistics 5.0, with particular reference to ports and the integrated supply chain; automation and robotics as a development asset in support of ports; digital simplification and competitiveness of the city-port system; human capital: professional reconversion and high-quality jobs.

The initiative will be streamed on the YouTube channel of the Municipality of Livorno (www.bit.ly/3bqGyaD)from 15.30 to 17.30 p.m. (CET).
