In an effort to address the challenges and opportunities facing the relationships between ports and cities worldwide, the 37th RETE Meeting will take place on November 6th and 7th. The event will be held at the Puertos del Estado headquarters in Madrid and will bring together experts, port managers, and city representatives.

The RETE Meeting is a key platform for discussion and collaboration on issues related to the interaction between ports and cities. RETE President, Teófila Martínez Saiz, emphasized the importance of this event, stating, “The relationship between ports and cities is essential for the sustainable development of our communities. This meeting provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the future of this interaction and make informed decisions.”

The event’s program includes a series of presentations and panel discussions covering crucial topics such as port planning and development, territorial and social innovation in ports, as well as international examples of port-city integration. Additionally, elections for the new RETE Board of Directors and Presidency will be held.

One of the highlights of the meeting will be the opening conference by the President of Puertos del Estado, Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena, who will explore port-city relationships in Spain’s general interest ports. International experiences will also be presented in a roundtable moderated by Miguel Jiménez, Director of Diario del Puerto, featuring port leaders from Santander, Italy, and Portugal.

The RETE Meeting represents a unique opportunity for collaboration and the exchange of ideas among key stakeholders in the realm of ports and cities. The outcomes of these discussions could have a significant impact on the future development of port communities.

The event actively involves members of RETE, port representatives, port authorities, councilors, and urban development experts.
