The refurbishment of the metal structure of the elevated seafront promenade at the Port of València has taken another step forward following the award of the contract by the Port Authority of València (PAV) for works to be carried out in the Marina area. The project will restore this space and improve the condition of the promenade, which forms part of one of the port’s areas open to the public.
The joint venture formed by SORIGUE ACSA CONSERVACIÓN DE INFRAESTRUCTURAS S.A.U. and ACSA OBRAS E INFRAESTRUCTURAS SAU I has been awarded the contract for this project promoted by the PAV, with a budget of €2,257,841.15 (VAT included) and an expected execution period of 15 months.
The works will include cleaning, repairing and treating the metal structure to improve its preservation. The benches and pergola located at the end of the promenade, near the port entrance, will also be repaired. In addition, elements relating to the safety and functionality of the pedestrian walkway will be improved and reinforced, including the access stairways, railings and lighting.
Use of renewable energy will be encouraged
The tender also includes specific environmental requirements for carrying out the works. To encourage the use of renewable energy, the use of electricity generators and compressors powered by combustion engines will be avoided. Furthermore, materials suitable for reuse must be handled by an authorised waste management operator.
This project complements other port–city integration initiatives already undertaken or planned by the Port Authority in the Marina area, including improvements to the Customs Quay, the surroundings of the Clock Building and the project to relocate the former lighthouse, among others.
