With the participation of provincial authorities, mayors, representatives of technical agencies, logistics companies, and urban planning experts, the Summit “Local Governments and Port Development: Keys to Governance and Production” takes place today in San Lorenzo. This day of work and exchange focuses on the strategic role of medium-density port cities in economic growth and territorial cohesion.
Organized at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of San Lorenzo and its Surrounding Area, the event addresses key topics throughout the day, such as the coordination of public policies, urban land‐use planning related to ports, environmental sustainability, the logistical challenges of the Greater Rosario area, and the integration of these localities into regional value chains.
During the opening ceremony, institutional and private‐sector representatives emphasized the importance of strengthening the management capacities of local governments in the face of growing port activity. The program includes panel discussions, thematic roundtables, and visits to two strategic logistics hubs: the Asociación de Cooperativas Argentinas (ACA) plant and the under-development facilities of Terminales y Servicios S.A.
Among the speakers are Mónica Alvarado, Secretary of Transport and Logistics for the Province of Santa Fe; José María Lojo, President of the Argentine Port Council; Alberto Ricci, Mayor of Villa Gobernador Gálvez; Leonardo Raimundo, Mayor of San Lorenzo; as well as representatives from municipalities such as Timbúes, General Lagos, and Arroyo Seco.
The Summit is coordinated by the Institute for Regional Development (IDR) and supported by organizations including the Rosario Stock Exchange, the Chamber of Private Commercial Ports (CPPC), and the Chamber of Port and Maritime Activities (CAPYM).
The day will conclude with a final roundtable on the connectivity of the Northern Belt of Greater Rosario and with the presentation of conclusions by the Municipality of Timbúes and the IDR.
